Web Reporting Data Analyst I - Princeton, NJ / Rochester, NY (565)

Responsible for managing research data in SQL Server databases. Specific tasks include:

  • Entering questionnaires and similar survey information into SQL Server tables.
  • Loading data from a variety of sources into SQL Server. Troubleshooting data loads using SQL Query Analyzer, VB and other tools.
  • Producing ad-hoc reports of data on-demand using web-based applications and SQL Server Query Analyzer.
  • Enter questionnaires into SQL databases using Harris Interactive’s Survey Manager and Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
  • Load market research data into SQL Server databases using Harris Interactive applications that are written in Visual Basic and Microsoft Data Transformation Services.
  • Report problems to senior IT Engineering staff. Work with senior staff to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with data loads and data reporting. This will require reviewing VB and VBScript source code, diagnosing fixed-width and delimited text files as well as structured file formats such as Microsoft Excel and XML formats.
  • Compare data and reports from multiple sources to ensure absolute accuracy. Diagnose and report differences to senior staff.
  • Perform quality control reviews of web portals under guidance from senior staff.
  • Manage IP restrictions for various web sites by receiving and logging emails and communicating requirements to Network Operations staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Degree from a Computer-Science Technical School.
  • Understanding of market research data structures and or market research collection methods
  • Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Proficient with MS Excel (Pivot tables, Auto-filters).
  • Knowledge of a data manipulation tools such as SQL Server, ADO, MS-Access, SPSS or SAS.
  • Some familiarity with Visual Basic / VBA / VBScript programming language.
  • Understanding of statistics and statistical terminology.
  • Familiarity with procedures and processes used to process research data (survey weighting, regression methodology, data merging etc).
  • Understand data specific tasks as assigned by senior members of the Harris Interactive Web Reporting Group.
  • Identify and clearly explain problems, tasks, and procedures. Share knowledge and experiences with other staff.
  • Interact with project managers and clients about the programming, statistical and technical requirements of projects. Discuss various options and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to clearly and independently communicate with project staff and clients (written and verbal).
  • A perfectionist who enjoys working with numbers and large data sets.
  • A quick learner who wants to improve their Structured Query Language skills.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to quickly learn different programming languages, software packages, and communications styles.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Enjoys problem solving.
  • Ability to manage project tasks across multiple staff members and ensure that deadlines are met. Efficiently manage resources.
  • Work after 5:00 p.m. will be required at times. This will require being on call or being on premises as needed.
