Research Assistant-Pricing Committee - Rochester, NY (470)
Location: Corporate - Rochester, NY

Overview

The US Research Operations unit within Harris Interactive seeks to hire a full-time staff member who will work under the direction of our pricing committee to collect and analyze internal data related to market competitiveness as well as to gather and synthesize competitive intelligence from external sources.

Additionally, the position will act as an evaluator to valuate current pricing tools used throughout the company and suggest changes and improvements. The incumbent will need to analyze all aspects of the pricing mechanics as well as the price points used at every level of the current tool and be able to mesh the internal findings with the market analysis resulting in sound pricing plans going forward.

The desired candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills, pay keen attention to detail, and understand the research process. The candidate should be familiar with standard software packages and research methods. The candidate should also demonstrate an ability to work independently to meet deadlines and project goals. A background in business finance (or business-related coursework) and/or applied statistics is a plus as is experience using MSAccess.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, store, and analyze internal data related to market competitiveness
  • Conduct research to identify market based pricing
  • Conduct competitive pricing assessments leveraging captured market pricing data
  • Support financial analysis activities surrounding pricing
  • Document risks and benefits surrounding pricing models developed
  • Help drive implementation of pricing models and change
  • Prepare presentations and reports for internal clients
  • Gather and summarize competitive intelligence
Requirements
  • Degree in statistics, economics, psychology, education, political science, or sociology-
  • Financial background desired
  • Strong MS Excel skills required
  • Knowledge of statistical and business software (SPSS, MSAccess).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
