PR Coordinator - Rochester, NY (563)
Location: Corporate - Rochester, NY

Overview

The Public Relations (PR) Coordinator is a member of the Corporate Communications staff. He/she relies on existing experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a high degree of accuracy, consistency and integrity. The PR Coordinator should possess a high level of integrity, dedication, energy and an ability to make things happen.

Responsibilities
  • Support the PR and IR Managers in the day-to-day public relations and media relations responsibilities
  • Write and edit press releases, newsletters, articles and other copy under the supervision of a manager that may be based on market research data, requiring careful analysis for accuracy and interpretation.
  • Assist with media inquiries and arrange interviews with internal spokespersons
  • Expand/develop relationships with media
  • Practice effective media relations to build awareness of company brands
  • Assist with maintenance of PR content on the corporate website for Harris Interactive and subsidiary newsrooms.
  • Utilize resources to create media lists and maintain the media contacts database
  • Distribute news releases to wire services and in-house media distribution lists
  • Assist in media monitoring

Education:

  • A bachelorís degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, psychology or other related field preferred (market research experience a plus)

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of strong PR/CorpCom experience in a corporate/agency environment
  • ability to execute tactics consistent with the business goals of the Company
  • excellent writing and editing skills
  • market research and analysis experience/skills
  • strong communications skills (verbal and written)
  • strong organizational, problem-solving and project management skills
  • diplomatic communicator, effective interpersonal skills
  • ability to work effectively as part of a professional team

Other Qualifications:

  • Idea generator, not afraid to express her/himself
  • Initiative to take ownership of projects Ė and a self-starter
  • Detail-oriented, but not afraid to say "itís good to go" when needed.
  • Able (and not afraid) to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under deadline pressure
  • A high level of creativity and flexibility
